We see philosophy education as a purpose unto itself. Pragmatically, it teaches students to think abstractly (connecting ideas across domains) and to ask questions at the goal-level rather than the outcome-level. Our social approach to pedagogy pushes them to synthesize and defend their own views in real time and through time, accounting for new information and updating their beliefs amongst their peers.
