The epicenter of public philosophy in New York City.

The New York Philosophical Society emerged from a merger of a few small salons committed to a simple idea: that philosophy should be public, practiced, and personal.

Drawing on the work of Robert Axelrod, we believe meaningful dialogue emerges from repeated interaction—trust, depth, and cooperation that come from showing up consistently, over time, with others.

Our biggest event, the Philosophy Club, hosts 80-110 guests biweekly to discuss the night’s subject. We also host events with notable speakers around the City.

We are 100% funded by donations and volunteer-run.
